Last Saturday, October 10th, Gobik's family was keeping a close eye on the fate of a handful of bikers, who were putting everything on the line for the rainbow jersey on the muddy circuit of Leogang, Austria. We had that exciting feeling close to euphoria when two French Absolute Absalon bikers, Jordan Sarrou and Titouan Carod, finished on the first and third steps of the elite XCO race.
This is one of the most intense moments in our ten-year history
The explosion of Jordan Sarrou
Overwhelmed by an emotion that is difficult to control, Jordan Sarrou describes the moment as “something you dream of as a child and over the years you see yourself there, world champion, but it would be unfair not to admit that it is a collective victory, as there are many people standing by my side, adding to make this a reality: from my coach, to the team, the family, my wife… everything lines up to be perfect at the right time ”.
"It is certainly the best day of my career", the Frenchman continues. I am a world champion! I will need even more days to believe it. You always compete for the gold medal, but this is too much, I have found my place and it is at the top”. A place that he saw clearly "halfway to the end, at the top of the last descent, from there I was able to enjoy the last meters, knowing that I had it and thinking about the people who have trusted me."
And belonging to the Absalon team, there is only one goal ahead: “Tokyo, with no doubt. It is the Holy Grail and I am in a good position, although we all know that the work to get there will be immense."
The rainbow jersey design
Gobik will follow the new world champion during his path: “Every detail counts at this level. Hard work is best when you take into consideration any improvement, no matter how small it may be. Wearing quality clothing of course helps. They are pieces designed for the biker's comfort and that is what I value about Gobik, the balance between comfort and performance in high competition”.
The garment that Sarrou will wear in the next twelve months will be the most beautiful in the cycling world, which carries a responsibility: “The world champion's jersey is structured so that the basic white color helps to highlight the most important icon: the rainbow strip”.
Jordan Sarrou's rainbow jersey joins other pieces that have written the history of these ten years of life of the firm from Murcia (Spain), a path in which the first designs for the competition shine with their own light, Vlad Dascalu´s XCO U23 rainbow jersey (2019), designs made for Primaflor and Carlos Coloma, for the leaders of the Volta a Catalunya and Vuelta a Comunidad Valenciana and for Contador and Basso - Aurum Bikes-, among many others.
